Disaster Averted

So we made it to Ho Chi Minh City airport at around 10am this morning. The business class flights were quite nice, and we sleep most of the way to Taipei….along with a nice nap on the last lag.

So, we went to the visa office and talked to them about the day error on our visa. And the man said we would have to wait until tomorrow to enter. Oh crap. We pressed him a bit and he said maybe there was a way. We filled out paperwork, and then his assistant said we had to wait until tomorrow unless we wanted to pay a fee, which we eagerly agreed to. It pretty much felt like a bribe, and cost us about $70. We paid our money and were out of the visa office fast, in fact, faster than anyone in front of us. I guess paying a little bribe helps.

We then got our luggage after a long wait. A driver met us and drove us to Cat Tien National Park. Tomorrow we go on a trek to look for gibbons. It leaves at 4:30am, which was our plan figuring we would be jet lagged anyway.

We just got an afternoon snack in the park and are debating about renting bicycles.
