Last Friday, we left Turkey and our lovely little Airbnb on the coast to head towards Mykonos. It was quite the set of travel days. First we drove to Cesme, Turkey. While there, we checked out the lovely Cesme castle and musuem and geared up for Mykonos (figuring turkey would be cheaper and it was!) and then took a ferry from Cesme (Asia Minor) to Chios (europe). We struggled to get a taxi to our hotel, but eventually landed there around 9pm. We bought a bottle of Metexa (greek brandy) and decompressed.
Early saturday morning, we got up to head to Mykonos. Again, no luck on the taxi front, so we walked to the airport, which was luckily close by. Then a flight to Athens, then to Mykonos. We had quite the wait for the bus at the airport to get to Mykonos town, but we had a few hours to kill before we could into the Airbnb, so not a big deal. Once in town, we had to walk across the town to another bus station, where we stored our bags and then toured Mykonos town. The town was cute but over-run with cruise ships, which we have decided SUCK. Then another bus ride across the island and a long walk uphill to the Airbnb where we waited for our friends to arrive.
Sounds like quite a trip. I’m glad I was in Mykonos when only one cruise ship was there—the one I was on!
