On Monday, we slept a bit later and nursed our sore legs. As Ashley pointed out in the comments, we did walk 10+ miles on Sunday, which was probably overdoing it.
We headed over to Beşiktaş, a suburb on the Asian side of Istanbul. Our friend Ahu had recommended checking out the area. Our first stop was Dolmabahçe Palace, but we only were able to check out the outside as it was closed on Monday. But we had a nice lunch in the area, checked out the market (so much shopping in Istanbul!) and took the ferry back to the European side.

After a quick nap for Ash, we headed to go see a Whirling Dervish show. Yes, some cultural voyeurism. We weren’t able to take photos of the show (their rules), so it is just their sweet dioramas.

The show was much better than I anticipated. The music was incredible and they sure did whirl, pretty much for 45 mins, with short breaks. Apparently they do not get dizzy due to their white outfits but I got a bit dizzy from watching them. Ash was quite excited to get to see them.
But after the show, I came down with some stomach issues, so I had a long night and well, nothing on Tuesday. I don’t think it was dizziness.

I hope your digestive troubles are over. So much to see and do (and eat) that it’s a shame when that happens. I wish we had seen the whirling dervishes when we were there several years ago.
