Friday night, we ate out fancy traditional Panamanian food. Ash had the “Mono” which is Spanish for monkey but was actually rice, beef, plantains wrapped in a banana leaf.
On Saturday, we left Boquete and headed to near Volcan. It is at the base of a volcano. One the way, we didn’t see much except signs to take pictures of noting in particular. Our current stay is in the middle of nowhere. The owners are from Castle Rock, Colorado. And the house is well equipped, including a washer and dryer. Easy clean clothes FTW.
Yesterday, we went on a hike near the Sendero de los Quetzels. The sendero (trail) is closed but we hiked around the start. We didn’t see much, outside a dead body (covered) on the road in Guadalupe. We stopped and got Fresas, which were tasty but a little funky.
Today we got up and went to Birder’s Paradise. We saw it on Google Maps, and our last AirBnb host Emily recommended it. And wow. I noted 53 species of birds during the visit. The guide (Misheal) was charming, and he showed us around his property and pointed out a variety of birds. Our favorites were the Motmot, Wood-Rail, and the Fairy. Tomorrow, we head to Boca Chica for a few nights before heading home on Christmas Eve. We both have enjoyed such a long trip!
