Quetzelmania

So we were a touch disappointed that yesterday we didn’t see a Quetzel. With wildlife, no sighting is guaranteed but still Ash really wanted to see one.

The bird guide recommended pipeline trail for some spotting. We hopped in our rental car and drove the 5 miles to the trail head. After paying, we headed up to the top where there is a waterfall. The trail wasn’t that long, but we did stop frequently to bird and to see this tree that is a 1000 years old. Yeah, this tree predates the Magna Carta.

We also saw quite a few birds, although they moved around a bit so I only got a few good photos.

At the top, there was this amazing waterfall.

As I was queuing up to take some photos, ash spots the Resplendent Quetzel, which is the most amazingly beautiful bird. But I did happen to get a picture of Ashley as she saw the Quetzel.
