On Sunday, we got up early and went birding (see previous posts) then we geared up and decided to hike to a swim spot.
The surf on this side of the island is pretty intense. So while we are on the beach, we can’t really swim.
We ate some oatmeal and left the house around 9am. We hiked along the road, then down a trail. Along the way we saw the birds previously posted along with a few sloths. We did find a nice secluded swim spot at the very end, but that was really the only one we saw.
At happy hour cocktails, we had a howler monkey walk by our sitting spot. I missed it as I was making the cocktails, but did get some great shots of it in a nearby tree.
The roundtrip was 9 miles, and at 88F and 100% humidity, we were totally zapped on Sunday night. So we decided to take it easy on Monday.
We slept late and didn’t do a whole lot. Then in the hottest part of the day, we went swimming (at a closer spot in the other direction). Around dusk, we walked to dinner and did some birding/wildlife spotting along the way.
Dinner was tasty but expensive. It was US prices. On the walk home, we saw this awesome sloth right on the road.
