Playa Baquerizo

After going to bed really early last night, and taking it slow this morning, we decided to walk to Playa Baquerizo.

We went with larger backpacks this time, as the wetsuits, snorkels, water, rain jackets, etc, take up a lot of space. And we headed out, stopping to get ash a slice of quiche and michael some pan. As we walked down the darwin boardwalk, we saw a ton of baby seals.

We visited the local nature center, which was pretty thin on exhibits and hiked up Cerro de Las Tijeretas. We had a beautiful view of a cove, and could hear people squealing in delight down below while they snorkeled.

It was a paved path and we thought it was easy, so we decided to continue on. The trail quickly turned to loose lava rock, and the walk was a little slippery. It also seemed to go on forever.
But eventually we got to Playa Baquerizo. It was idyllic. As we arrived, ash noticed that there were iguanas swimming, something we both wanted to see.

There was one other visitor when we arrived, and he quickly left. After resting for a bit, we got in to snorkel. We saw a ton of fish, Michael saw a pufferfish. We were hoping to swim with an Iguana, but that didn’t happen. Although we saw another turtle.

After hiking back, we got some chicken on a stick at a local food stand (risky!), and got dinner (meh). We are heading to bed early again, as we hiked a ton today.

Not as many pics today as the internet is really slow, will try to add them later.
